End a tenancy and check out

Before the tenancy ends

  • Confirm the move-out date with the tenant in writing
  • Arrange a check-out inspection (compare against the check-in report)
  • Agree on any deductions before releasing the deposit

Close the tenancy in LetSense

  1. Open the property and go to the Tenants tab.
  2. Open the active tenancy.
  3. Click End tenancy and enter the actual move-out date.
  4. Record the deposit return amount and the date it was released.

Closing the tenancy marks the property as void and starts a new void period tracker automatically.

Deposit return timescale

You must return the deposit (less agreed deductions) within 10 days of agreeing the amount with the tenant. If the tenant disputes deductions, contact your deposit protection scheme to begin adjudication.

After checkout

The tenant's portal access is not automatically revoked — if you want to remove it, rotate the portal token from the tenancy record.
