Why track keys in LetSense?

Key records help you answer "who has a key to this property?" instantly — useful when a tenant loses a key, a contractor needs temporary access, or you're doing a tenancy changeover.

Adding key records

  1. Open the property and go to the Keys tab.
  2. Click Add key.
  3. Select the key type: front door, back door, communal door, post box, garage, room (for HMOs), or other.
  4. Set the holder — tenant name, contractor, or "office" (held by you).
  5. Add any notes (e.g. "spare key", "cut 2026-05-01").
  6. Click Save.

HMO room keys

For HMO properties, you can create key records per room (Room 1, Room 2, etc.) as well as shared areas. This is separate from the HMO room management feature — key records are for tracking, not for setting room rents.

Changing key holders

Click Edit on any key record to update the holder — for example when a tenancy ends and you receive the keys back, change the holder to "office". There's no full audit log of holder changes, so note any handover in the property's Notes tab if you need a record.
