Mark a compliance item as not applicable

When N/A applies

Not every compliance item applies to every property. For example:

• Gas safety certificate — only required if the property has gas appliances. An all-electric property does not need one.
• CO alarm — only required if the property has a gas, solid fuel, or oil appliance.
• HMO licence — only required if the property meets the HMO definition.

How to mark N/A

1. Open the property and go to the Compliance tab.
2. Find the item and click the options menu (three dots).
3. Select Mark as not applicable and confirm.

The item turns grey and is excluded from compliance scoring. LetSense will not send reminders for N/A items.

Mandatory items cannot be marked N/A

Smoke alarms, EICRs, and EPCs are required for all residential tenancies in England — these cannot be marked N/A. If you believe an exemption applies, consult a solicitor.
