What counts as an expense

You can record any cost associated with a property: repairs, contractor invoices, insurance, service charges, management fees, and more. Expenses flow into your profit and loss summary and accountant exports.

Add an expense

  1. Open the property and go to the Finances tab.
  2. Click Add expense.
  3. Select the category (repairs, insurance, professional fees, etc.).
  4. Enter the amount, date, and a description.
  5. Upload an invoice or receipt (optional but recommended).

Viewing your expenses

The Finances tab shows a running total of income vs expenses for the property. The Portfolio → Finances page shows totals across all properties, grouped by tax year.

Xero sync

If you have connected Xero, expenses are automatically pushed as bills when you save them. See the Xero integration article for setup instructions.
